“It’s the season to be jolly.” Oh, it’s that time of year again, Christmas. In reality though it is only October 23 not even passed Halloween but I can’t help looking forward to the coming holidays. The past two weeks I have been in this Christmas spirit. What got me in this spirit was a trip to Menards last weekend with my family. I discovered that Menards had all their Christmas trees and decorations on display already.
Every year it seems like stores are getting Christmas stuff out earlier and earlier. Von Mar even had their Christmas items out in September when I went dress shopping for Homecoming. I think that was a little extreme. My mom thinks that because stores are getting their stuff out so early it ruins the Christmas spirit. It’s not really special if every time you go to a store in the three months prior to Christmas you find holiday stuff already out. On the other hand, I personally don’t mind that the stores have their Christmas stuff out so early. Though, it wouldn’t hurt if they waited until after Halloween and then set everything up. Now, every time I see Christmas decorations or something that we associate with Christmas, like cranberries, I get happy and realize that it’s not that far off. Pretty soon I will have to make up a Christmas list and help wrap presents to put under the tree. Then I think of all the snow that comes with Christmas and I get a little sad but that’s a whole other topic I will write about later.
As you can see, I can’t wait for Christmas to come. Even though stores might be putting their stuff out too early you can’t help also getting in the Christmas spirit whether you admit it or not. For now though I will have to wait another two months but I know time will go fast because we get to celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving in between.
