It’s the kick off to the holiday shopping season. It’s Black Friday!
Black Friday seems to start earlier and earlier each year. Last year on this big shopping day, majority of the big stores (target, Wal-mart, Best Buy, Kohl’s…etc) didn’t open up until mid morning, four or five am. This year though, all those stores that I listed above opened at midnight. Wal-Mart didn’t even open on Friday, they opened at ten Thursday night. Pretty soon Black Friday will be considered Black Thursday and we will forget about Thanksgiving all together.
Many of the workers though hate how the stores are opening up earlier each year. Employees working at Target created a petition that had over 190000 signatures on it complaining about opening up at mid night rather than 5 am like many stores did last year. As you can see though, they still opened at mid-night.
Every year you hear or read about the crazy things people do on black Friday. These people are the type that is in line Thursday morning or even Wednesday. You often question why they are standing in line when there isn’t anybody else in line. Then you have the people who will fiscally harm you if you are in there way. People are fight over video games even towels and harming the other person. People are running into stores so they can be the first one to get in and out. By doing this, it has caused people to become tramped and taken to the hospital. One person in Wal-Mart injured twenty people with pepper spray in order to get some kind of video game device. These events make people question what Black Friday has come too. On this day shopping takes on a whole new level. Mainly though I think that the fighting is caused by the fact that these people waited in line forever and the fact that its early in the morning and many of these people have been up almost all day.
Black Friday wouldn’t be the same though without these people. It makes it stand out and you laugh at them thinking “its only -----(enter an item). Black Friday though is becoming a bigger event every year whether people are spending more or not. The deals are getting better and people are taking up on this opportunity. You should really experience at least once in your life.
