Looking Back on 2011 (part 1)

Looking back on 2011, I realized it was quite an exciting year. For me and probably millions of other people I experienced some great things for the first time and some sad.

Getting my License:  I have been driving since I was fourteen, but I was under restrictions, like having a parent in the car and only being able to drive to school. Once I turned sixteen in March I was able to experience something different; being able to drive anywhere without a parent. At first I was a little scared because I wasn’t sure who was going to warn me if someone was coming or were to go. After a while though, I got use to it and now it doesn’t bother me as much to go places. I still don’t like to drive on the interstate (I’ll stick to driving under 55) or to a place where I don’t know where it’s at. Over all though I am a good driver or at least I think I am (my sister thinks I drive like a grandma because I drive the speed limit). Having my license though really help me because I don’t have to rely on people to get to places and if I need something then I can go get it.

Dance: Not many people know this about me but I have been taking dance lessons for quite some time at studio dance. I have taken every kind of dance (tap, ballet, jazz, funky jazz and lyrical) offered over the time period I have been going there. Since entering in high school I choose to only do one dance class because I am really busy during the school year which was lyrical and then this year is jazz. Anyways last year I accomplished getting my 13 years of dancing award at the recital along with my dad (he does the father daughter dance that both me and my little sister do).

Rights of an Upperclassman: I graduated from a sophomore to a junior in 2011. I went from being lower classmen to upper classmen in less than a year. From making that switch I have accumulated more rights like where I get to have lunch and my release periods. Another great thing about this is that I get to park my car in the south parking lot instead of the Oakland church where I parked as a sophomore. I didn’t mind the walk from the church when it was warm but when it is cold I am glad that I am now allowed to park in the south lot.
