Getting A Job: Getting a job in 2011 was probably one of the biggest changes that I experience throughout the year. I started working at Dairy Queen officially on the weekend of Labor Day and still work there to this day. I learned many new things on of having a job like how to work a cash register, perfecting the makings of a cone (it takes some skill because you have to get the balls just the right weight depending on the size they order and then you have to get the curl), learning all the ingredients in the manly blizzards we sell and cleaning (never in my life have I cleaned bathrooms before till I got the job or mop floors). Working in the fast food industry you also experience different types of customers and the feeling of someone ordering when you are going to close in a minute. Another great thing about getting a job is that I am able to receive a pay check every two weeks, who doesn’t like the feeling of receiving money.
Job Interviews: Before getting my job I had to go through a couple of interviews before being hired. The first job interview that I did was through the pool. It was a group meeting and I was the youngest and least experience of the three other girls (they all held jobs or had in the past). I didn’t get offered the job but it didn’t stop me from looking. The next place I tried was Collins Road Theater. They had in add in the paper that you could between a certain time for an interview. There was about 10 other people there when I got there ranging in age. We had to go in separately to talk with the owner and to answer a couple of questions like the school you attend, weaknesses and your best qualities, etc. I also was interviewed at Dairy Queen. They had a similar style of interview like Collins Road Theater but you had to set up an appointment. As you can see above that I didn’t finally get accepted to work at Dairy Queen. Going through the process of finding a job made me realize that you don’t get every opportunity and that you shouldn’t give up even if you are rejected.
