Looking Back on 2011 (part 5)

Winning my first race: I won my first JV cross country race this year in Iowa city. I was really cool to come across the finish line first even though I was practically dying the whole time, It was worth all the pain I endured though.

Cross Country State: I was an alternate for state cross country this year for the first time. Even though I didn’t run I felt cool just to being able to be given this opportunity that many people don’t get to experience. At state I was able to see really good people run and realize that it is actually possible to finish 2.5 miles in 13 minutes. I was also able to celebrate with the team on the outstanding job they did that day.

Black Friday: I went out shopping on black Friday for the first time. I really wanted to get the experience of shopping on Black Friday so my sisters and I went out at 11:30 and we waited in line at Target which opened at midnight. I was really fun even though we weren’t really shopping for anything but we were tired the next day since we didn’t get home to 5 in the morning.

National Television: One of the greater highlights in 2011 was being on National Television. My father, sister and I went to go see Ron Paul at the Kirkwood Hotel in December. After he gave his speech people would crowd around him asking for autographs or interviews for the newspaper. After making my way through the crowd I asked him if I could take a picture with him. Then about a week later my aunt calls my house saying that she saw us on NBC. We looked it up and be hold there I was on national television asking for a picture with Ron Paul. Not many people can say they have been on national television.

Looking back on 2011 i realized all the great memories I experience and I hope 2012 will do the same.
